Lesson #1: you cannot control where a peacock will decide to display - live with whatever background you get.

Lesson #2: you will always have the wrong lens for the occasion.

Lesson #3: having a choice of lenses is both a pain and pleasure. See Lesson #2 for the pain aspect.

you know, now that I've had a chance to think about it, this perspective isn't so bad after all, as it does have the virtue of getting across the sheer breadth of the display - so many peacock shots are close-in and you don't get the sense of scale so much

I like most the full image of your peacock..
Most people do zoom in but all of his splendor is in a full image..
Well done..

I think this came out rather good in spite of all your lessons and pains. He's quite spendid!

What a fabulous display, and it is colour coordinating with the frames. Hehe, it makes me think of espaliered fruit trees.

Great choice of colour for the window frames. And he's centered to the column as well. I think everything about this image just works.

Wow, what a beautiful display. At least the building colors and the bird complement each other. Isn't it tough about lenses. Carrying them all around is a drag, until the moment you need another one.

Karen, you don't know how many times I have had to learn all of those lessons -- you'd think I'd learn, but I seem to always be having to repeat the lesons the hard way.

But this is beautiful. You know, I've never actually seen a peacock in real life with its feathers spread like that. I'd be happy to have a photo of one with any background.

What's wrong with the background? He matches the building! LOL!
