Challenge: Habits (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Lens: Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM
Location: Vendome metro, Montreal, Qc
Date: May 13, 2004
Aperture: F 9.0
ISO: 1600
Shutter: 1/250 sec
Galleries: Urban, Black and White
Date Uploaded: May 18, 2004

Photographed in the Vendome metro station, in Montreal. I loved the way the light was shining in the windows, vcreating the patterns on the floor. The person is sitting quietly reading a book, waiting for her train/bus/subway to arrive. When I looked at the photo, I thought she might actually look like a junkie, sitting there getting her fix. I'm probably way off, and people won't get it.

Lens: Canon 28-105mm f3.5-4.5 @ 45mm.

Shot in RAW mode and converted using FVU at -0.5 exposure comp. In PS7: crop, auto levels, saturation in colorise mode to get blue tint, resize, USM and gaussian blur (5) reduced to 25%. NO BORDER!

Hehe... I've been there!!

This is a wonderful shot. You have captured the mood here perfectly. The blue/grey cast does an excellent job of accentuating said mood.

The choice of a cold colored duotone really sells this as a bitter world of desolation. I like the composition with the figure set far back in the frame and the repetition of the sunlight and shadows with the darkness above (rather forboding). I wish it was just a little crisper so I could make out more details. Excellent, evocative shot. At first I scored it as a six, but I just bumped it up to an eight.

Good use of repetition and multiple light sources. My eye is drawn from the bottom right to the door at middle left.

The bluish tones or WB are pretty cool. Good setup of lights and shadowes. Very good image.

What habit, I can't see what he's doing?

Nicely composed. I like the way the overhead lights and the reflections on the floor converge toward the door, but with the human figure maintaining the balance.

Lovely portrait due to the stunning lighting. Good desaturated colour use.

the composition is striking, and the tonallity is fabulous. Now if only we were given a clue as to how this relates to "habits", we'd be all set...

I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt on this one. Other than the title, I don't see how this relates to "habits" but I really like the mood and feel of the photograph even though I can't tell what the subject is doing. 7

nice editing and l like the composition in regards to the building but imho you need to get closer to you subject...i can barely tell what he's holding.

Tremendous, well composed and well captured. The light from the window on the floor is the outstanding element which leads the eye to the guy. If this doesn't get top ten then there's no justice in the world.

beautiful shades of gray-blue....i like the rhythym of the space. it would be nice to be able to punch the lights in the ceiling a bit more to make them relate to the light on the floor
