This is a movie projector lens that I adapted to work with my S3 Fuji.
It has no aperture, but it shoots awesome photos at f1.8 which is what I wanted it for anyway.
It's heavy, about 6 lbs without the 2 lb camera. Focusing is done by sliding the two black areas in and out of each other. It's a pretty fun lens actually, and was only $35 on eBy.
The whole thing with the Cinemascope attachment on it was 16 lbs. This part with camera weighs about 7 lbs, or 3 kilos.
It is good for this kind of shots;

It also came with a 7.5 lb "Cenima Scope" projector attachment, which is a 9 inch long 5 inch diameter anamorphic lens which screws on the front of it and does this;
I wonder where Canon got the red stripe idea? : -)

Now if a cop stopped you for taking photos of buildings with this I would understand why. lol It looks like a nuke fitted onto a camera body.

That's cool. Do you ever get compared to MacGyver?

What a beast - hopefully it hasn't yet taken down your camera at an unguarded moment. :)

What did you do with the Anamorphic adapter/attachment that came with this lens? I've been looking for one myself. Since I think all of us here are using digital cameras, it should be noted that using an Anamorphic lens is a breeze for us. You simply edit the photos on the computer to the correct size they need to be displayed at. And what you wind up with are really wide images that were compressed horizontally, reproduced in CINEMATIC format!

MelonMusketeer,
Could you please post pictures of this lens with the mount removed. I'm working on doing something similar (precisely how I just found this page, and JOINED!). There are many lenses I want to use in modified form. The lens I'm looking at now has a 4" projector barrel. But I think mine (the one I want) is even longer than yours. So I would really like to see how you did it. Also, I just picked up a Elgeet 10" (254mm) f/4.5, which is relatively small by comparison. If in all of your adventures you've come across one of these, I'd like to know about it as well.

you have some amazing equipment waddy .. quite the experimenter with your photography .. and obviously a lot of strength ..
just to carry this around would weigh me down .. to actually focus on something would be very difficult .. :)

WOW - that is something!!! I never have figured out how people adapt something to their camera like that. If I did, it would end up being a pile of metal like something I got out of the pots and pans cabinet. HAHA Nice to see you around!!!
