Not sure, but this seems to be a Red-tailed Hawk (Please correct me otherwise).
I went out to this very tiny park, which is basically a strip of land with a small creek, between two major roads, nearby my daughter's place.
I wanted to find and got some shots of birds on their freedom; I could hear few actively chirping around, but they all disappear at my arrival, so after few silly shots here and there I gave up, as it was getting colder too.
Turning around, just notice this big tree and thought it would give a nice silhouette... Lo and behold, this hawk calmly sitting there... This "bird" was much more than what I was looking for!
I scrambled to change lenses, afraid I was going to loose it, but he didn't bother with my presence at all. Actually I had to make quite some noise several times to call his attention to look at me and never bother to take off. I got tired first, cold but happy with some nice shots of my newly feathered friend, so I left him enjoying a brisk and beautiful evening... Hope he found a nice dinner...
(Now I'm thinking, maybe it was him who scared the first birds and made them flee away, not me)

Very very engaging. Composition conspires with diagonals and round burrs and round eyes. |

Makes me want to hide behind a shrub! That looks like a good-sized hawk. |
