 I was in Venice for one evening on a recent trip. I snapped this shot right out from Piazzo San Marco

post challenge: Oh, well. Almost everyone complained how dark this was. It isn't so dark on any of my monitors but, then, they are all calibrated monitors. This was a night shot with a long exposure, hence the blurring of the bobbing gondolas in the foreground. The irony is, I shot a little longer shutter than I wanted on this frame and it came out too light for my taste. Here is the original. Guess it woulda scored better:

The scene was dark and moody and I wanted to capture that. So, I darkened it back up. lol. Like I said, oh well. Just never know whats gonna fly on DPC, eh? =o)

I realize it is night, but perhaps a touch more brightness could bring out the scene and still look right. Other than that, It's a pleasing and appropriate scene.

Way too dark, there's enough detail there so I think you could have lightened this up. Other than that it's a pretty nice shot.

A very clever use of DOF in reverse - it resonates with the impression of romance and history. The font is a little small, but the color is perfect and matches the mood and overall emotional appear - it's not bathetic at all. The background is detailed and rich with color even given the darker cast of blue. Nicely executed.
