As expected this has just been DQ'd. Absolutely the right decision following the other DQ in this challenge. Although mine was more subtle in how it created a new image area, the same rules apply. Had I raised the crayon a little I could've created a natural boundary and desaturated to her right (viewer's left) but as it is, the small arbitary end of the desaturation just above the crayon is illegal.
You live and learn.

Many thanks for the critique; I hadn't really noticed the low scores but I can see there are a few.
For the record, this image is still in validation so I'm pretty sure none of the scores will stay permanent.
Thanks again

from the Critique culb
Imo this was very nicely done. It shows your Imagination, and creative skills well.
A touch of light from the left could have brought more color to the crayon, and some good highlights that might have made the color bolder.
Good crop, keeps attention on main part of photo.
I do not understand the low scores?
Completely meets challenge critera. |

This is great! I think I would have picked this one for a ribbon. I love a photo for these set-up challenges that you could still hang on your wall. |

Once of the best uses of selective color I have seen recently. Does not just enhance the image, but makes it. |

very well done. this has caught my eye many times over the past week but this is the first i have actually clicked the thumbnail. beautiful colors, great desat. im sure this will be top 5 if not ribboning. my only little problem with it is the strange 5 o'clock shadow type thing going on below the crayon-10 oh, and its my first ten out of everything, and probably the only 10 |

Good concept. I didn't like the lighting used on the face though. |

this is a really good idea...but it appears that you are off on the colored lip area (her lip goes lower)...a little better execution of the colored area would pull this off better. |

A very creative look at crayons - the image meets the subject matter dead on with subtle, yet detailed effect. A terrific demonstration of the creative process in meeting the challenge the use of grayscale and color is outstanding. Should be a sure bet to win a ribbon or place high as a top twenty image. A couple of minor detail problems not worth mentioning because they don't appear until you really get a critical eye and examine the image closely. Well done. |
