Captured with my Quaker Oats box pinhole camera.

I'm never comfortable shooting other people's artwork (graffiti, statuary, etc.) but this guy reached out and grabbed me and insisted. Truly, I'm not sure what this is. It showed up one day on the downtown side of the Seventh Street (Warhol) Bridge -- oddly with no informational plaque. There are some shots of it on Flickr, where someone commented that it looks like a giant transformer made out of Pittsburgh's bridges. That's about as good a description as I can give you. If anyone knows more, do share!

The view is looking straight up at the figure as if lying on the ground. Anyway, this silly little contraption of a camera continues to surprise me. The contrast and sharpness here really caught me off guard. Scanned with an Epson Perfection 1250; in PSP X2, crop, invert, mirror, levels (just to tweak the balance), resize, JPG.

UPDATE: Yo_spiff found these images on Flickr. From there I was able to find this: //www.post-gazette.com/pg/08192/896066-53.stm. Thanks, Steve. Mystery solved.

Amazingly sharp! And I don't mind at all as I'm about to be scooped up and crushed by the thing. :)

A very cool sculpture and a cool shot of it! I'm amazed at the detail in this Quaker Oats box shot! This is sharper than some lens shots I've seen in these here parts! Something very cool about making a camera out of ordinary objects, awesome job!

An object, originally used for something else, taking a photo of an object, originally used for something else.

What a creative find, to see this and think about shooting it with your "Oatsy Cam". I too am impressed with the quality that you are achieving with your new gadget.
