I'm currently driving all of historic Route 66. So I'm traveling down a long forgotten section of the route in Texas and stop to take a picture of an abandoned train trestle. Another person pulls up, a guy takes a few pictures, and then leaves the way he came. I was thinking to myself, who would drive several miles on a rough dirt road just to take some pictures and then leave? Wouldn't it be funny if it were a DPCer? I happened to have internet at my hotel tonight so I checked the website and sure enough, there's a train challenge. I haven't been doing DPC recently because it generally just makes me feel bad about my photography, but I had lots of train pictures from the last few days and after that coincidence I had to submit! (Note: the picture I submitted was of different site, not the one mentioned above.)
Editing: crop slightly to straighten, shadows/highlights, contrast, hue/sat/convert to B&W, resize, USM |

| I'm asumming thats a box car in the background, the pole on the right side of the photo is a little distracting. I thinking a higher angle to where you can see some of the tracks. JMO! Overall it's a nice shot. |

| A little better lighting control reducing the highlights would have been a plus. Not an overly interesting image from an artistic sense, it does provide a lot of detail and color differences. A little more thought into the composition would have made for a better image. A good entry into the challenge, it falls just short of being truly effective. Perhaps a little change in viewing angle would have helped. |

| If I didn't know this was a Trains & Railroads challenge, I would have no idea that I was looking at an abandoned station. This photo has no real subject to me. |
