On Penang Hill you can escape the heat of tropical George Town. The hill, also known as Bukit Bendera, is 830 meter high (2,750 foot) and it's much cooler than in the city below. It's about 3 degrees cooler than the places near the coast. The funicular railway will not take you straight to the top, you have to change trains halfway. In the meantime you'll pass several small station, where the local people get off. There are are also some small hotels and guesthouses on this stretch. The railway was built in 1923 and it takes about half an hour to the top. At the top of the hill, you'll find a tea kiosk, restaurants, souvenir stalls, a mosque, Hindu temple, and the old Bellevue hotel. The summit offers a magnificent panoramic view of George Town, the mainland and Penang Bridge. (Source: //www.malaysiasite.nl/hill.htm) |

Wow! One of my top rated shots in this challenge. There's a lot going on here, but it all works together really well. I love the city in the background and the intense color from the greenery. |

I honestly couldn't tell if this was a model or if it was real. Either way it's nice. |

The city in the background IMO is to distracting. |

Is this a model with painting in the back or is this real and just over processed? I don't *love* the image but I can't stop looking at it, trying to figure out exactly WHAT I am looking at. Halos where the trees meet the blue background are distracting too. All that said, 6 for confusing the heck out of me. |

This image is both a technical and artistic success. The incredible highly detailed look of the background and the compare and contrast concept between height and depth is amazing. The color difference between foreground and background just increase it's visual impact. This should place very high if not a ribbon winner. Well done. |

I love the expansiveness of this - the green, the road, the city in the distance - and of course the red of the train and the tracks and the tunnel - great shot! |

Your eye is drawn to the trolley, and then you look up expecting to see a blue sky or a mountain only to find a whole city. Quite surprising! Beautiful area. |
