 OK. So here is a challenge I had no interest in either entering or viewing the results of.

I am picturing way to many pictures that look like every other picture of crayons or colored pencils. But I had some free time.

Knowing my entries always score low anyway, I wasn't sure which "out of the box" technique to use. My goal submitting this entry was to submit an image that fit the challenge yet didn't look like every other image. I'm aiming for subtle non-conformity. Anxious sameness. Controlled chaos.

Disarray.

The shot doesn't hit me the right way. I want to focus on the pencil sticking up but the end seems out of focus.

The image meets the subject matter dead on. A sound demonstration of the creative process in meeting the challenge in a very unusual way. The DOF could have been used more effectively to increase the image's impact.. A good solid entry into the challenge.
