what do you think caused the purple fringe.. too much combo of HSL and contrast?

A little better lighting control would have been a plus. Not an overly interesting image from an artistic sense, it does provide a lot of detail and color differences. A little more thought into the composition would have made for a better image. A good entry into the challenge, it falls just short of being truly effective. Perhaps a little change in viewing angle would have helped.

I find it a bit sad that these old ones get "tagged" so poorly - always nicer when the artists take a bit more care with their work. Good basic shot, but you may get dinged for the purple fringing going on - probably due to it being a bit brightish day as far as light.

Great, clear shot with good color and great focus. I like that you included a bit from the car in front and a bit from the car behind, that's what makes this photo well-composed imo.
