 This is my daughter and an arabian named Shalimar. Although not her horse, they are good friends. She plays with him like another kid and he happily plays along. In this photo, she is talking about a mud puddle at their feet and that they should not get their shoes muddy or they will have to walk home.

Most changes were made in the RAW converter. Exposure, Clarity, Saturation and Blacks. Image overall was cropped and converted to black and white using overall adjustment layers in normal mode.

magically lit,and I love your description of the photo
and it doesn't hurt that grays have always been my favorite horses : )

The highlighted hair on the girl and horse gives the impression of one-ness between horse and girl

A very interesting capture in that the immediate impression is of beauty, grace and style - a calm moment between the horse and it's friend that became a charming vignette. The halo effect is instantly effective from an artistic sense and the B&W conversion is very well done. This should place high if not a ribbon contender. Well done.
