 I used a flood light to iluminate the back. Metered for the face and use the self-timer. Also used a black sheet to cover the white garage door.

Great idea to use the candles as fill light, as it really met the challenge and the cancle light added to the mood. The folds on the background distract a bit though, and could have been reduced by moving the curtain back from the subject.

GREAT shot, i would give it an 8 or 9 if it weren't for that pesky background (the ruffles that are evident behind the candles) and the light spots above the boys head. try to get that background a deeper, richer black, and this picture will be absolutely stunning

i like this shot very much. it is composed nicely, and i like the black background here. i'm left feeling, what could this innocent young boy be praying so earnestly about? very nice work.

Cropping is too loose on top. This would be very dramatic if it filled more of the frame.
