Poetic mother and child (re)union. Beautifully captured, beautifully presented. I have close to no idea why anything above this scores higher, except maybe for the odd bit of dynamics. Oh, and it's a lottery.
Oh, twelfth, damn straight - deserves it, too. Well done, Julianne. |

Great job, Julianne! The texture and crispness of this black and white photo makes it so striking!

What I loved the most about this picture is that it could have been taken last week or fifty years ago. The timlessness of this makes it that much more precious. Love the B&W and square crop too. Really a wonderful capture. |

I thought this was a great candid. Obviously neither was aware of what you were doing and this certainly doesn't looked staged. I love the girl's sleepy face. I miss that kind of thing. Great shot! |

Wonderful capture - I really like how the noise / grain in the top right of the image contrasts with the smooth and cleaner appearance of the child's face. |

Originally rated an 8 because of a perception of slightly overdone whites, on comment review, the effectiveness of this truly candid moment is simply outstanding. A perfect demonstration of right ISO choice, right lens choice, right camera, composition and framing. The casual aspect of the caretaker perfectly matches the gentle slumber of the resting child. Rerated to a ten because of it's complete technical and artistic success, this should be a top five image if not a blue ribbon contender. An excellant image - well done. |

Good photo - good crop. Excellent BW conversion. Seems to be an actual candid - a rarity in this challenge. |
