Thanks everyone that took the time to vote and comment on my picture. Just to explain to some that commented on this, the alien is specifically not quite in focus and with the bright backlight to make it more mysterious. After all, when have you seen a clear and on focus picture of an alien or UFO? The elements I used to take this picture was a 1 inch plastic alien (which also appeared on my Fruits & Vegetables picture) standing on a dark blue towel and lighted with a small flashlight. The B&W was done with Photoshop. The title I chose was not my first option, but I thought that something more dramatic like "The Truth is out there" was going to be used by someone else on the challenge. Thanks again to all of you.

Great photo! Very funny :-) I like the lighting very much. Composition and focus are also good. This is one of my favourites this week. -stephan

Looks like you had a lot of fun taking this. Night photography with a flashlight shining on a toy alien? Decent B & W for what it is. But only a 4 for fun.

Great idea, I like the composition and starkness of this picture. They really suit the chosen topic. shedonist 8

I think I'd have added at least a little bit of some other element to try and reinforce the (false) sense of scale. Otherwise simple and affective.

Whatever your secret on how you accomplished this shot, I really like it. 9

The loss of focus in the foreground is really detrimental to this shot. The idea is pretty good and the way the lighting is, it gives this piece a little believablity. The picture should've had the blurry areas cropped out . This would've brought a little more attention to the subject and been far less distracting - Inspzil

I really like this shot... you have done a great job of creating a scene here that looks quite real... the black and white is perfect for this image... = 10 - setzler

haha. Ths is great! The deep contrast really adds to the picture and gives it that "late in the night" feeling.

very fun idea...might be better if the alien was in a little better focus.

It has very good lightening, and creativity is on the line, perhaps, maybe a shadow effect showing the contrasts with the grass a little more agressively. I liked it a lot!!

I like the idea, but the scale of the 'grass' stops it working effectively. Like the lighting effect.

This is very good. Works well in black and white too. Texture is very good. The shadows work to add mystery. Good luck! Grayce aka Gracious

A salutary lesson for those of us who think we don't have the space of equipment to do elaborate shoots for challenges! This is a really great approach to the subject, imaginatively tackled to create a striking shot. Very well done.

Awesome use of black and white. A bit too blurry, but I like it. Nice use of the rule of thirds. 8 Jacko.

I liked very much this shot, the bright light that outlines the alien's body reminds me of the Close Encounters aliens coming down their ship. COngratulations and good luck! You are my favorite this week!! :*
