Too much reliance on black in this image affects it from both a technical and artistic standpoint. The ultimate black and bright whites, while an interesting artistic choice, are jarring and ineffective creating an unnatural look to the subject's face - almost clown like this may not have been the author's intent. The conversion is a good one - it just doesn't work in this setting. A better choice may have been grayscale to increase it's viewability and impact from both a technical and artistic sense. A candid moment that is worthy of entry into the challenge, it falls short of being outstanding. |

The interesting part of this pix is the expression on the person's face. The graphic pannel that takes up most of the right side of the pix is really distracting and unnecessary.A narrow vertical crop would have made this an interesting and very dramatic pix. |
