Once again my good pal Max in action. Point a telephoto at a pet one day and you'll get lots of great pictures. Maybe some will give me low scores because this is a pet, but I'm still happy with this shot. I hope for a score over 5.5 so my 5 highest rated photos get updated. I dream for a score over 6, but I don't think that will happen.

Postchallenge

Happy with this, and the nomination!Thank you for lovely comments! Another 6 in my humble collection of pictures.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Well done for getting a good solid score in this challenge. Always nice to score a six or higher. I am afraid I only rated this photo a 5, which may, on reflection be a bit tough (sometimes I wish we had a chance to go to more decimals).

Whilst I felt this captured the challenge topic pretty well, there were a few things that just stopped me giving it a 6. I found the composition to be a bit too cramped. I would like to have seen some more space around the dog, so it was more in context that it is.

The stick is hiding the dog's eyes which is a pity. Finally, for me, the lighting seemed to be a bit flat, making the colours a bit flat too. I felt a tweak in the levels to brighten it up a bit and a slight boost to the saturation would have made this stand out a bit more.

Anyway, you got a coveted Post Luminous award, so you know at least one person liked it a lot!

I love how the color of the dog's fur stands out from the darker background. It really does look like the dog is loving life at this moment.

I like the composition and scenic background, and I can easily see the dog enjoying playing with the stick. Would like to see his/her eye a little better to really complete the expression of joy.

Dogs having fun is a natural and this captures the open spirit and nature of pure joy of a dog's life. They ask so little and give so much that it's a pleasure to see an author capture them in thier natural fun loving state. A beautiful image and a complete technical and artistic success. Well done.

HEE HEE - I love how shepherd/collie snouts make them look like they are smiling. :~) Nothing better than a dog with a stick. Maybe a touch tight with the crop but great focus. This made me smile.
