Another PostLuminous nomination!
Thanks for the continued encouragement chromeydome!

For the people who don't believe that, on the whole, we vote according to personal taste as opposed to technical quality (btw, not saying that's a bad thing) - there's nothing technically wrong with this image. It's a deliberate and totally legitimate photographic technique, yet 55 members voted 4 or less.

Am I to get my knickers in a twist and cry "troll"? At 55 members? I seriously don't think so.

What the results tell me is that these people do not like this particular style, or in fact, just this particular image. Simple as that really. 42 people couldn't give a toss one way or the other, lol, and 80 derived some degree of pleasure from it, i.e. liked it.

The majority of us like bright, colourful and focused images, so those entries will filter through to the top. But even having those qualities won't automatically give an image immunity from votes by other members who do not like the work regardless. It's just that they receive less, so it looks like an anomaly. The reality in most cases is merely someone using their right to vote as they please, and expressing their personal dislike for an image.

Can't be trolling behaviour for low votes on a tack sharp wildlife shot, but not so for other genres, right?

Lynne thought this one was mine...and the only thing wrong with this photo is that it isn't sitting in my portfolio! I voted this one a 9 and am appalled to see it way down here! This is a cool motion blur photo. Well done!

Enticing, seductive, puzzling. Equals full poetic motion.

I love the artistic feel to this. It almost looks like it is splashing in a fountain or a waterfall.

lovely sense of motion here with strong blues and greens, I wish there was a richer series of tones from black to white.

Abstract in it's execution, there are two ways to view this image - negatively in the sense that it's undetailed and in no way, from a strict interpretation standpoint, indicates motion or the effects of motion. On the other hand, it's very abstract nature is indicative of motion and the colors and motion blur give it a certain feel, as it related to the challenge subject, that is a plus. In this kind of quandry, and given this reviewer's propensity to positively rate abstract images, the benefit of the doubt goes to the author. The blend of color and background are complimentary which is an artistic plus and can be viewed as a technical plus. Not necessarily to everyone's taste, this might break into the top twenty and possibly the top fifteen images if the commenters and reviewers give it chance by understanding the nature of impressionist imagery.
