Challenge: Table Shot III (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM
Location: dining room
Date: May 1, 2009
Aperture: 10
ISO: 200
Shutter: 2 seconds
Galleries: Abstract, Still Life
Date Uploaded: May 1, 2009

Set three forks on the table with a red bit of posterboard behind. The reflection onto the tabletop just happened. Used the 70-300 as a 'portrait' lens to capture the closeup by placing it way over on the other end of the table.

Processing: Crop, Dust bunnies, Noise Ninja, Sharpen. So basic strikes again. I didn't need Advanced to make a composition that I liked.

Wonder what the voters will think.

i like the colors here and pov is appropriate for the subject too. although too much foreground space (may be more defined reflection could have justified that) and out-of-focus fork-tips/points hurt this photo a lot. good luck.

Great imagination. I knew right away what they were, yet lingered to take in this unusual perspective. I think the focus might be slightly off on the tips of the tines, of that the dof is just too shallow.

Mama fork, daddy fork and baby fork! A little soft on the focus though

There is a very interesting effect that may have been missed. On the last tine of the center fork, there is a sort of "devil's tuning fork" illusion in which there are two tines as a trick of light. It might have been an interesting experiment to see if that effect could also be duplicated on the right side of the center fork which would have made is a true impossible object - it's pretty good as it is. Another interesting approach would have been to use a more reflective surface. If the author is so inclined, experimentation with bringing out the shadows might be fun and produce a really interesting image. A good solid entry into the challenge.
