 I took this during a weekend away with family to Coffs Harbour, New South Wales. (Coordinates Lat 30°16'15.53"S, Long 153°08'37.52"E from Google Earth). I had visited the site a few years back and taken a previous DPC challenges entry that didn’t do so well but thought it had great potential. I got up early (after a late night) and was lucky enough to capture this beautiful moment. I had to resist the urge to over-process the entry but I’m so glad I kept it natural.

What a gorgeous morning you had for this - well worth getting up early!! Congrats on the awesome score and the ribbon, and I have to bet this would look marvelous printed large and framed.

lol, family and work I guess but I do love dawn/dusk and night photography - something about being on my own and seeing moments a lot of people miss.

Nice work Matt. You realise that all your highest scoring shots are sunrise/set or night shots? Can't take a decent shot during the day eh? :)

Not quite, from Wikipedia..."A geographic information system (GIS), or geographical information system, captures, stores, analyzes, manages, and presents data that is linked to location." Basically working with geographically referenced databases - it's what I do to earn my keep. :)

I wasn't wrong! Congratulations on your very well deserved Blue Ribbon! And thumbs down for whoever rated this amazing piece of art with a 1. Honest, I've been on DPC for over 2 years now, and I still don't understand some voters. They should go expose their enviousness somewhere else!

Absolutely gorgeous light. Excellent balance of exposure between the sky and sea. Was a graduated neutral density filter used or just some good Photoshop editing? :) The saturation level and colors are awesome! 8 from me.
