 Finally got around to trying an overlay. I've been meaning to try this for a while, and the May Overlay side-challenge seemed to push the right button.

I really like the way this turned out, albeit, I think it gives the image a 'dark' tone to it. I may have gone a bit overboard by using so many textures, but this was more of a "first time experiment" than anything else.

Used this old image of a friend's daughter:

I might just have to try a few more of these this month!

Well for your first try this is very good! I too agree perhaps just a tad too much green otherwise I can tell you are going to do well in this side challenge :)

Yes yes! I have been using that same veil overlay - and love it. Great combo of textures with an excellent result.

Isn't it amazing what happens when you use that process? I really like what you endeded up with. I'm wondering if a smidge less green, but not at all critiquing your work. :~)

well, I really like the overlays that you choose...they really do compliment each other very well, and make a stunning picture, my only thought is that it is to "green" in hue..and that is personal taste...I like sepia or a rich tonal B&W...so just ignore me...

I wonder whether a blue or sepia might have added more to the feeling of poignancy here ?
