 I wasn't quite sure whether to enter this into the Light or Darkness challenge, but in the end Darkness won out. To me she seems to be disappearing into nothing as she flies away, and yet it is not an unhappy or overly dramatic thing. She simply fades away.

This is a single exposure in which I triggered the strobes 2 times. The blurry aftermath was from ambient light in the room. I fired the first strobe, then she took a step forward and flipped her hair at the same time. The second strobe was fired in the middle of the hair flip and then she lingered at the end and the ambient light captured a blurry mess of her face in the end. I shot this in my dorm with one light on her face and one light on her hair on a black background. Editing consisted of a lot of levels adjustments and bw conversion using the calculations method with a blue filter. I used these to play up the textures in her skin and hair.

I am very happy with how this came out. It took a ton of tries and luck.

I can't BELIEVE this didn't finish in the top 15, or 10, or 5. I had it as the Blue Ribbon winner. Absolutely one of my favorite shots that I've ever seen on this site. Added to Fav's and HUGE props for the effort.

Cool effect with the multiple exposure. The blurred figure on the left feels out of place though, but still a nice shot overall.

Ethereal, dream like, there is not a lot not to like in this excellant black and white conversion. The sense of movement in time is very present and the title, which indicates a sense of fleeting memories or imperceptible emotion is a perfect match for the image. Very effective it was originally rated a 9, but has been bumped to a 10 for it's technical and artistic excellance. Well done.

this may be one of the best compositions i have ever laid eyes on. an instant favorite. GREAT portrayal of movement :)
