This has been layered and cropped and then I did a canvas size change to give me white sides, so I could do another layer of a red rusty piece of metal, to create the funky side borders. One of the layers had a bunch of French words, so I got rid of all but the English word No. I just thought it worked. LOL

I wish I could get the red to look more aged without losing its color, but I gave up.

Reminds me of one panel of a Japanese room divider that I grew up with.

How COOL is THAT! The lines are so appealing with the colors and textures. You wouldn't believe how close this is to a look that our company paid inordinate sums of money to a marketing firm to create a design for stationery and promotional pieces for Pearl. Your creative mind is amazing!

I love the rusty borders, what a clever addition! All of the vertical lines are just great, and the texture overlay is fabulous.

Maybe you could use a paintbrush texture just on the red. Don't know if it would work but it might.

I think it's perfect as is! This actually reminds me of the cover of a journal I used to keep as a kid!

why couldn't you age the border? couldn't you activate that layer and "grunge" it up (I don't really know the answer here...just guessing) blend the two...like 2 different photos? Really like what you did...will have to experiment with that one a bit...great idea!!!

I don't know why but this makes me think of a fabric print. You're a clothing designer and don't even know it! Like the grit of the red against the faded area.
