The composition could have been interesting, but the tops of the bananas all lead my eye out of the picture instead of into it. Texture of the banana skins looks interesting, though the picture is too small to judge well. The B&W works well with the overripened skins.
Could have been a reasonably good picture, but the size really hurt it. Congrats on the brown ribbon, although I'm not sure you really deserved that.

I really liked it, it is simple and has a lot more character than most of the banana shots, face it bright yellow bananas have been done and done and done, This looks like bananas at my place :)
But I agree it could have been bigger though.

Strange idea desaturating this image I, I think it would work better seeing the yellows and brown splodges. |

But you do have the beginnings of a great banana bread . . . 1 point for bananas, 1 point for image tone, 1 point for cropping and composition, 1 point for being brave, and 1 more for your sense of humor. (Hope a 5's o.k. with you.) |
