two photographs of flies ..
i'd just gone for a walk and coming into the house noticed a blob on some grass i'm growing for the budgie just outside the back door ... put on my glasses to see what it was .. haha !! two flies mating ..
i quickly yanked off the glasses and took one shot .. wham bam thankyou mam .. they didnt even give me time to take two shots ... well the one shot i got wasnt in focus .. the female fly stuck around on the piece of grass for a few more seconds and i got one where she was nearly in focus ... overlay/textures are great for when you muck up a macro ... they cover a multitude of 'sins' ... lol ..
anyway .. the female was the background layer and i brought in the mating flies .. duplicated the mating flies and had one in blending mode soft light and one in colour burn ..

brought in foto of bark taken on the firetrail and converted to a slightly cross process colouring/darken blending mode ..

lol .. i just showed this to greg when he walked in and he said YUK ..!!

Night vision, was my first thought.

I was in the garden doing nothing in particular when suddenly I noticed this tiny little flying thing that I would never have noticed at all if not for you. It landed on a leaf. Not only that, thanks to you I got a little bit closer to see if I could tell what kind of tiny little thing it was, if it matched any one of your fabulous macro shots. But before I could figure anything out, it flew away. "D I don't see how you do it! I am so impressed!

It's incredible what you can do with flies, Roz. My normal reaction to them is pretty much yuk, too, but when you present them in a fantastic sci-fi, radoactive environment, they become totally fascinating.
