This is well composed for the challenge, but I thought the exposure on the wall was just a little too dark. |

Almost great. I think it would be better if there were less sky (or more). I don't like the even split between sky and building. |

I wish I had not seen this so early in the voting as the others seem rather palid and irrelevant in comparison. The massing is well balanced and the color palate is masterfull. I can't belive anything will be better done in this challenge. From the lightness of touch I belive you are shooing in the south of France no? I am searching for something to criticize, and I have decided that your border must be the most faulty peice of the shot, not that it is too bad but you left so little else to argue with. |

Really like the way this has been thought out.
A simple photo but with lots of impact.
Well done & good luck |

Had to look hard for the second light source and when I found it, it was disappointingly obvious. Though the contrast between natural and artifical light is nice... Colours are a little washed out, might have helped to adjust the contrast in the output image. A lovely photo and a good idea nonetheless, score 6.5 rounded to 7. |

an ode to renee magritte's empire of light? One of my favorite series of paintings, BTW. |

This is my only 10 for this contest! Excellent job. I hope everyone else feels the way I do. You have definately sopken your message using the light sources in this photo... which is what I believe to be the heart of the challenge. Normally I would think that the bold division of the horizontal roof line running through the center of the image would leave a weak composition, but that didn't happen here. Both halves are complex in their own way, balancing each other. It seems to capture me as though I was walking down the street and happened to look up to this scene. I feel like I'm there, experienceing the vastness of the sunset sky, while remaining confined by the buildings around. This image is both technically and artisticly excellent.
Thank you for your submission. I was getting sick of looking at candles. This will be one of my favorites when the contest is over. Do I hear "print"? :-) |

Subtle, the two light sources! I like the colors in the sky very much. Pity it's a bit tilted to the right. |
