 Early May me and my wife went for a drive to the southern part of Iceland. We went to the area around Þjórsárdalur which hosts alot of hidden gems for the landscape photographer.

The white mountain reflected is the famous and active volcano Mt. Hekla. For the last few decades it has erupted every 10 years or so and its about 10 years since it last erupted so its due to erupt any day now.

The last few eruptions have not been violent and caused no damage. To be out there when it eruptes and to capture the first minutes of a volcano erupting must be the landscapes photographers ultimate dream.

After shooting until around midnight we went for a sleep for a few hours in the car only to wake up with everything covered in fresh snow. I thought summer was on its way!

The tiny bit of red in the distance is intriguing; makes me think there are contemplative figures in red stationed all around the water's edge.

A little low in resolution. The person looks a little jagged on my screen. I find the blue just a little too strong. The good thing is I really like the composition and the surreal feel of the overall image. 7
