Looking through shots for the monthly challenge. Of all the different photos I took this month, this one hit me. No editing at all - it was just there, plain and simple; front and center. I think it's the simplicity of the shot that caught and held me, and chose this over all the others.

I think hotpasta hit the nail on the head. This site has become more about "wow factor" than it has about photography. This is a pretty good photo. Yet I look at the other photos that got better than me (pretty much all the photos) and there are a lot of really bad photos that did better. I think I just don't know what criteria people use when they vote.

Edward - the green was a tough call. Broccolli doesn't look 'store green' in the garden. But less blue than this. Playign with the colors though always made it seemed fake green, so I decided against trying to liven it up...

it lacks wow factor for a free study...it's just a pic of brocolli lacking creativity ... sorry :(

your shot is just a little dark and a bit to "centered"

It seems your white balance was set for artificial lighting. Looks too blue for a green subject. I think a few small curves and level adjustments would help as well. Good Luck!

Point of View is OK, needs more contrast and punch in the colors. Subject matter is bland and tough to do well in a FS. 5
