The center of the Milky Way... this is easily visible to the naked eye if you find yourself a clear dark sky away from city lights. What first appears to be a cloud is actually the galactic core of the milky way. On a clear summer evening here in the northern hemisphere, this glorious site rises in the southeast and never gets more than about 30 degrees above the southern horizon. This image ia a composite of 6 2 minute exposures with my canon f/4 70-200mm lens set to 70mm. I had to battle clouds all night, so I wasn't able to get as much depth to this shot as I would have liked.

Amazing. That you can capture this is just that. And the subject is wonderful too. A little more depth in the blacks would be just great here but it's still lovely.

At least, I assume this is space and not an horrendous case of hot pixels?!
