I 'really' like this shot. It looks like she was handing out gospel tracts. |

Her look is priceless as are the other guys...well seen and caught! The backdrop I find a bit distracting...but we can't control that... |

When I looked at the thumbnail of this I thought it was a partial desat because of the strong blue and strong red against the other muted colours and was already predisposed to not liking it. When I opened the shot I realised it wasn't and that those colours actually made the subjects stand out from the photo and make the shot really interesting.
I love the looks being exchanged here, it's one of those photos where it would be great to ask each of the people in it what they were thinking that caused that expression. |

I tried it in black and white but couldn't get it right. It flattened everything. I think the color helps the viewer read the scene. Many of the elements are very close together. I also liked the blue dress against the guy's red outfit, and I didn't want to lost that. |

I'm wondering why you didn't choose to do this in bw.
Nice impartial character study. |

Not sure why you are not sure about this one. If I had to score the two you've posted so far, first one would be a 3 and this an 8. This is far more interesting image. There is something to hold your attention here.

The Mennonite's I've known (and I assume she is Mennonite) are fairly religious. The gold crucifix on the man in red pulls this together and gives it a happy feel. IMO. |

Sort of, but the fact that it's landscape oriented makes me think that I didn't have to be so stealthy since my subjects were distracted. I think I lifted the camera to my belly to shoot this. Acutally, they had just finished (or were finishing) talking to her when I shot this. |

She seems to be pretty amused at the two on the right, while the two men don't even seem to pay attention to her.

It feels rather busy in an "my eye is pulled all over the place" sort of way, however the woman and her expression, pose and outfit and her colours really lift the photo for me and then adding in the contrast with the other people in the photo it builds up into a slice of life sort of image that has a lot more impact than it would if it were purely being judged on composition and 'dry' technicals like that.
So yeah, I actually quite like it. It could probably be better with a slightly more out of focus background or a bit less cluttered or sinking into the people, however the people are just about perfect and I love how they're arranged in the photo.
YMMV of course
Oh and I like the colour treatment, gives it a bit of an old film photo feel.
