Apparently I am a glutton for punishment.

Long exposure, with slight movement to make the painted look, taken at a still pool of water along the rocky trail at Great Falls Park.

How did I know you were going to get blasted for this? You even gave them a HINT in the title - not for looking; for reflecting. To me, this is a dreamy, calming picture. I "see" someone lying on their back, enjoying the sunshine, eyes half-closed, relaxed, in no hurry to do or be anything. Take a deep breath and let the calm overwhelm you. Thanks for the stress break.

You're my hero this week! Three "it hurts my eyes" comments is a new record I think, and there are a couple more that could have been thus. Could be worse of course; you might have taken that abomination that won the blue ribbon (speaking of "hurts my eyes"). But look on the bright side ... at least now you know that your photograph is out of focus! You sure won't make that rookie mistake again.

Excellent title! And kudos to Paul for the other play on words. Geology was one of my favorite classes in college. As a somewhat unrelated aside, "Can Ollie See Down My Pants Pocket? Tom Jones Can. Tom's Queer." Geologic ages. :-)

Speaking of geology and past ages, there's a giant beastie here sipping water from the pool.

Oddly reassuring to have the brown score so low and at the same time garner such fun comments. In fact, if I take off my glasses, or look from 5 feet away, this can almost be seen: gives me something to think about.

This photo hurt my eyes. I'm not trying to be mean, but it is very hard to look at due to the way it is out of focus.

what on earth happened to this image? if the "effect" was intentional, it's overdone

lol so I had to go look up "gneiss" and i can see where you are squeaking it into the photo. I guess I like natural water reflections so I would like to have seen a clearer view of the rocks in water.

Nice play on words, not a fan of the photo though - I don't think the blur adds to the image.

was there a problem with the upload or is this actually the shot being entered in a contest?

I sat waiting for this photo to load fully, then realized it was completely out of focus ?

The poor focus makes this hard to appreciate, I like your subject and composition however.
