Shot at Avery Point Campus of University of Connecticut. On campus is the Branford House, originally a 31-room mansion that rivaled those found in Newport RI. It was built at a cost of three million dollars in 1903 belonging to Morton Freeman Plant.
As it was late afternoon with strong shadows and a reasonably bright sky, I used a circular polarizer to 'pop' the swirly clouds and I used a tripod at about 2 feet off the ground for this shot so I could stop down the aperture to get the entire image sharp in focus.
Editing: RAW conversion with levels adjustment, increase in clarity and vibrance and contrast, and adjustments to Hue/Saturation to pop the blues in the sky even more. In CS4, adjusted levels, curves, desaturated using hue/sat, cropped, USM at large radius, resize to 1280, USM at large radius for more contrast, Adamus Sharpening, resize for web, USM at large radius for increased contrast and final levels adjustment. Done
