A great observation - blues throughout the various interesting, intricate, architectural styles have become a pleasing, cohesive negative space.
The intuitive crop feels fussy and contributes to some additional visual complexity. |

The framing is good, but this might have worked better in black and white.
ETA: Actually, I think this could work in color -- side lighting and more gentle sun perhaps? |
