i thought that an abstract action shot would be interesting while respecting the rules of this challange...the players are not in the photo...they are just symbolized by some pins...i tryed to create the mood of a free kick in soccer...the player kicking the ball...the defense wall...and the goalkeeper...for the field and background i used glossy photo paper...the ball - aluminium paper...available light...i used the smallest aperture possible to get most of the 'palyers' in focus...but anyway due to the angle i have choosen to create a dynamic perspective i had to sacrifice the focus for the keeper and for the one that kick the ball...but i hope i managed to get the rest of the pins in focus...hope you enjoy my idee and the photo itself...

37th place. You were robbed.
I loved this shot. It is well taken, the lighting is spot on and it is a unique idea.
Should have scored higher in my hummble opinion.
Keep up the good work.

Nice image, but not to my liking for an image of team sports.

Nice take on the challenge. Good choice of DOF, crisp focus. Good composition! Hope you do well :) P.S. I think you mean Beckham?

10 for creativity and originality. Excellent photo, the best I've seen so far!

Yes, this IS creative! Hopefully people really LOOK at this photo, because it is very well done. You've got the pushpins in at various levels, and have a perfect tilt on both the Kicker and the Keeper. Very well done!

Funny and creative answer to the challenge! Effective use of limited depth of field, though perhaps if the "soccer ball" were in focus it would help. Love the reflections, the colors, etc. Fine job!

Really interestng and funny too. Love the colours of the tacks. Thanks! - 8

Such a nice but simple idea. Imho the best intepretation of the challenge.

I like this idea and although there are some focus and washed out highlight issues I still give this a 7 for originality composition and meeting theme.
06/03/2004 09:56:29 AM
Is that a deliberate mistake? Interesting idea...

Cute idea. Nice reflections 7

Wonderful idea, very well executed. Only detail that bothers me: I thought it was Beckham, not Backham? Or is that an inside joke? 9

love the creativity!

Absolutely brilliant. The reflections make for a very surreal image, and varying the pin heights and angles makes this more than just a chalk talk. Shallow DOF gives the impression of space even on such a small "field."

Quirky idea, is Beckham deliberately misspelt?

cute! I was trying for a similar idea but couldn't come up with one. great details in the setup of the pins "jumping", etc. And technically, a strong shot too. A real contender. I wish the ball were more visible.
