The 1948 Pontiac rocks!! (and it rides like a cloud too :-))

Location: Really old street Downtown Lima. Shot on Sunday afternoon to avoid usual heavy traffic. Car is parked by the door of the Constitutional Court building with permission of the cop in charge of security. I bet you already guessed who the cop is :-). Yes, I thought his uniform was perfect to add to the composition as a driver or doorman of the 40's, and he kindly accepted to pose at the right place. He also helped to "ask" pedestrians not to pass through during the shooting.

Lighting: Natural dusk light + lots of street tungsten lamps. Used some fill light with on-board SB-800 speed-light bounced of left side wall to enhance subtle reflections on car. That, plus a bit of s&h in pp did the job.

Processing: Some adjustment layers to shift towards cooler semi-desat palette and boost contrast to get the vintage look of the 40's car ad images (most of them were drawn/painted those days) + NR + border + sfw. Blown outs were not possible to fix in b.e. but it seems it was understood by most voters.

I agree with Maver in regards to using a lower camera angle. I did try it but got unpleasant strong bg lights passing through the rear window, a tough problem under basic editing. When I went down enough to conceal those lights, I got a better perspective of the car but my model was not available to stand in the right place. Decided to go with the image with (IMO) a more interesting story and atmosphere.

Special thanks to Mr. Cop (forgot to ask his name but gave him my card so I hope he calls someday to give him a nice large print of this) and to my friend and next door neighbor Jorge too, for his valuable help on the car preparation and the shooting.

It's great seeing a car image at night like this. The sky and natural framing of the buildings really pulls me in, and the "Mr Cop" is all business. Great score and Congratulations!

this shot is great.. I love the sharpness of the car and the angle.. I think, personally, the only thing that could have made this better is a lower camera angle.. but still.. this is great! good job!
