Wanted a contrast in subject as well as processing, so here we have a delicate blue egg on a solid rock with a nicely textured bird's nest in the background. Lots of contrasts.
Found this egg on the ground yesterday next to a completely broken one. The nest was still in a bush, but upside down, so something predatory probably got to the nest. The egg was already cold and cracked so I knew the baby bird was dead. Sad, but nothing I could do about it at that point.
I took the nest down and put it by the egg for context, and placed them both on a rock (not subtle, and the egg probably would have been more damaged if the nest had landed on a rock, but it tells a story). Kind of like the darkness in the nest created by bumping the contrast.
Had the 12mm extension tube on.
