This was a challenging shot for me to execute and took a lot of tries to get (sort of) right. The setup was this:

Shards of glass arranged on a glass table, tripod balanced precariously on the table with the camera pointing down. Put the camera on bulb (hence the 33 second exposure!), then set off a flash towards the glass pieces, trying to light the edges. Then positioned myself below the table, holding the flash in my extended arm, set it off again with fingers partially covering it to make it warmer and somewhat more diffuse/dim. Closed the shutter with remote in my other hand. It was tough to get both flash exposures right at once; there were a lot where I was in the right position but the glass wasn't lit well, or vice versa, so this was the closest I got.

I do wish the cracks had turned out stronger and positioned slightly differently, but I'm happy with it nonetheless. This image actually means a lot to me for personal reasons and was the expression of something I was/am going through. So thanks for the comments and positive criticisms.

I like your concept with this photo. I love the lighting. The lines on the arm are a little distracting, but other than that - very well done! Great job!

I like the concept but wish the shattered glass/mirror was more distinguishable.

Nice image with great lighting. My only nitpic would be the crack on the models nose/eye and I'd rather it was over her cheek.

I like this... the lighting is wonderful. I wish the crack didn't go right across the eye, though, since that's the focal place for the eye to rest and it's disturbed. Just me, though... (not voting)

Hm... doesn't really look shattered... more like, cracked...

This would be way better with bigger cracks, or somehow much more emphasis on them. A little bit of drama, needing some amplification. Nice idea.
