 I love this sign. Its right by where my wife works.The building was constructed in 1932 and there was a bar in the space for the last couple of years. Recently its become vacant unfortunately though and one article I read suggested it might be slated for demolition.

Conversion was done entirely in LR (sooo tempted to try Nik Silver Efex Pro but...it might not be legal). Heavy handed conversion to black and white and liberal application of curves to darken the sky up. I would have like to darken the shadows of the letters more but when I adjusted that part of the curve other stuff got darkened too.

The square crop? I don't know. There was a lot of dead space at the top of the shot. I could have left some of it in to create a stronger composition but I wanted the viewer to get the full impact of the shadows which were what I was trying to capture in my rendition. It would have been nice to get rid of the wires but that wasn't in the cards in this challenge.
