This has been a really insane month for me, last month was so crazy I completely forgot to enter. I felt pretty stupid because I had some great photos.

This month I have basically been in rehearsal 6 days a week from 9am-9pm, and for the past week or so I have had rehearsal AND a show so I have been at the theatre from 9am to about 10:30pm. I have tons of pictures from shows and rehearsal but those really didn't seem appropriate for DPC.

So I have literally had no time at all to work on portraiture. Now that both my shows are open I have my days free and I am going to start using my acting buddies as models and go crazy in the Nebraska awesomeness

I never thought I would be able to photograph lightning. I left rehearsal one night and there was the lightning storm of the century going on kind of far away. The sky was so brilliantly lit I thought there was a firworks display going on or something. I grabbed my camera and a couple of friends and we went to a nearby scenic overlook. There weren't many lightning bolts but the sky was so bright and colorful. I don't have a remote trigger so I put the camera on bulb, crossed my fingers and held down the shutter until I felt like letting it go. I got a bunch of different pictures but this was my favorite. Lightning has been done time and time again, and better than this, but this is the best that I have right now. I really feel lucky to have gotten this picture, and the free study would have either have to have been this or a hilarious picture of my friend in pin curls stuffing her face with blueberries. I hope it goes over decently. I can't wait to start working in July on some great new portraiture ideas.

A bit too much empty space at the top but a great capture of the lightning.

Always good fun to catch these, and keeping the camera dry at the same time if you're not in some sort of shelter is tricky!

This scene looks quite isolated, which is nice, and I like the amount of black space you have left.

Killer lightning shot. I like it because its only one bolt coming down, with others in the sky. Most lightning shots have multiple bolts coming down, often times making the photo lack symmetry. Well done
