Golf balls are much harder to photograph than I ever expected. My first attempt was on the reflective black surface of the piano...that was a fiasco. After more attempts than I'm willing to admit and time getting short, here's one of the better ones.

We had a package of golf balls from Forbes (logo on the back side), manufactured by Pinacle with the unbelievable "HOT SHOT" imprinted on them. The image of the ball is so hot on the upper left it makes me cringe, but it does provide the ultimate in contrast! Hope you enjoy the irony of it all!

Would have been better if tee was straight. Golf ball is blow out in upper left. Certainly high contrast.

It's a bit noisy in the shadows and it's a tad over-sharpened (you can see the jagged edge on the tee). It's a nice composition though.

I find myself wishing there was more going on, maybe more extreme lighting so the divots would be higher contrast?

With a simple subject and composition the exposure needs to be perfect for real impact. Here, the high lights are blown while the shadows are noisy. Things that might help are: use a tripod: select lowest ISO: lower the intensity of the light source: bracket your exposures: Shoot in RAW
Hope you don't mind the comments - good luck
