Lit with 2x400W floods from the front, and sheet is backlight with a 80W flouro.

This seemed like a good idea when I borrowed the shirts from some friends who have kids playing rugby, but never quite looked right on the outside washing line due to the busy background.

Moving to the garage is only a slight improvement, but there's only 1 and a bit hours to go till the 1st, so here it is.

Editing was just scale/crop/border and then removing a blue cast from the flouro backlight by desaturating cyan. All in the gimp.

Hi-ho,

Thanks for all your comments...

I was intending to have a shot of the shirts against a bright blue sky, or sunset, but by the time I got around to takin the shot it was the last day, and heavily overcast. Nothing I took outside looked any good, and I ran out of light so I moved into the garage.

I figured this would be better than nothing, although I probably should have made more effort with the sheet/background and the voting reflects that.. Such is life :-).

Not too sure if I could have improved the numbers all that much, the floods used are diffused (24" round 400W each), but I don't have any large reflectors. Might have to get some sheets of white something to hang in the garage. :-). The numbers themselves are made of a shiny iron-on plastic, even in the day light shots I took they picked up some heavy reflections.

Cheers, Me.

neat jerseys, the pink clips dont work, the white of the jerseys as more yellow than the backdrop, and the texture of the backdrop doesn't contribute to the smooth textures of the shirts. the border points a lot of this out for me.

The jerseys are in great focus, but it would be nice to see more of the jerseys on either side of the center jersey. The background could be more appealing.

my mom had a nice back drop like that when she hung up our clothes too

Would have been cooler with a real background -- sky, sun etc...the back drop is distracting

This is a great idea for this challenge. I'm wondering if it woudl be even better if you took the shirts outside and let them blow in teh wind. For indoor shots (and I'm not one to talk since I have no extra equipment for indoor lighting) - you may want to try using a light source that is less harsh, maybe a reflector. The black numbers seemed to have picked up a bit of harsh light. Good luck with this one. It's a very good idea and good composition.

This would have made more sense shot outdoors on a clothes line. The wrinkly sheet hurts the image.

nice interpretation although I find the sheet a tad distracting...perhaps a more "natural" background?

Your idea is good but a few ideas for improvements: press the background, wrinkles are not good and people always notice. White is really strong so you have to have good light control. When shooting black shinny things, try a little cover on your flash or light. That will help with the bouncing shine. Paper, plastic lids, cloth all can make good temp flash covers. :) Good luck.
