Yes, this is actually the Statue of Liberty, and no it is not inspired by Setz :). It was, in fact a very bland, rainy day here in NY when I went on a boat tour around the city. I originally thought of a clean cliche shot of the Statue of Liberty, but it was raining too hard for the windows to be rolled up and too hard for me to go out back and risk water damage to my camera. So I decided to stay inside. When water droplets fell on the windows, I took advantage and began shooting through. The scratched up and dirty windows set a mood that I think is unique from the similar staged shots. I hope this isn't misconceptualized as a set-up.

This shot is not selectively desaturated either. This is pretty much how it looked coming out of the camera.

Personally, I think that this is my highest quality image that I have submitted to DPC thus far.
This is not selectively desaturated either. This is how the shot looked for the most part straight out of the camera.

This is beautiful..and somehow says more about the idea of liberty than the statue itself.

I'd say this is a perfect shot, I like the angle and mood to it. I'm adding to to my favourites because taking a good picture of something is one thing, but creating a mood with a picture is what photography is all about in my mind. Good work. :)

I hope you focused it like that on purpose. Would have looked better if the Statue of Liberty was more in focus, possibly by using a smaller aperture and backing away from the window.

Definitely unusual, for me anyway. I think it probably would have done OK. Better than my dismal showing, that's for sure! :o)
