As for the challenge, it sure fits of course, but the choice of subject is less exotic than most of the flowers seen in the challenge.
Technically, the photo is sound. I like the tones on the petals and the shallow depth of field works well against the rocky background which provides good contrast overall, bringing out the subject even more. The framing is ok, cropped as close as possible for a top shot of a cluster of flora.
Artistically, not the most pop or wow factor given that you had the chance to take advantage of the Advanced Editing clause. Not sure what you could have done here, I'd like to see this in Black and White.
I think this is one of those shots that isn't flawed too much, but also gives a little lasting impression, at least artistically. I think it scored what it deserved, it's a well photographed subject but lacking in drama. |
