I'm shooting this girl for her yearbook page. She is such a good friend and such a good subject. I have a slew of good photos, it was hard to choose which to submit to DPC. I thought this was mysterious with the background and the shadows, but the voters didn't seem to agree. Oh well, she likes it, and so do her parents.

BTW, it was taken in the back of a rowboat in a boat house on a remote lake. The shadow is because she was just partly out from under the roof.

I think this is perfectly lovely, Julianne - there's a gentleness, a tenderness to this, and I'll bet that reflects her personality well. Glad she likes it!

I think your background makes her look out of context. It looks like you copied her out of one background and pasted her into another (not to be confused with saying that you did...just saying that's the type of feeling I get from her. You didn't agreat job on her although the contrast between the dark and light makes her look almost fake. You really didn't need a border, it hurts the photo in this case.
