 The purpose of this cow's life is to die as food for others.

Pre-challenge notes:
Probably another low five here, but the success of this image will be if people understand the point I am making and the relevance to the challenge.

Anticipated critiques:
-Blown and overly bright highlights, especially the swath across the face.
-The legs of the other cow are distracting
-The folks who don't like the use of titles are less likely to see the relevance to the topic. They will just see a picture of a cow.

Post-challenge notes:
Did a fair amount better than anticipated on this one. Hit a 5.5 a couple of hours before rollover and then lost at least 10 low votes to the scrubber. Got some great comments on this one. I was hoping this would be my "love it or hate it" shot with a dip in the 5's, but it didn't polarize the voters as much as I'd hoped. A good showing that I'm pleased with.

Added: Forgot to mention, this entry was also a test of the new basic editing rules. Conversion from RAW was done with Photomatix basic, and some detail tweaking was done with Topaz adjust.

Great shot for the challenge, great subject. I think the textures and tones are lovely in this, would you post a color version as well? I think the duotone might be more emotive, but I feel that a color version would be more full of life.

He looks too good for McD's. He might be made for the super market. Great tones on this shot. The tag in the ear really does the trick for the challenge.
