 Responding to Roz: these are just random denizens of this small, local beach. I wandered amongst them taking pictures, even waded a little :-)

Those "tree-like thingies" are actually trees. Each year, after the last winter freeze has melted, at the first minus-low tide, they walk out along the edges of the channel and "plant" these trees to mark the channel; there is a whole long string of them, they are bizarre at extreme low tide.

It is done this way to save money, as it's a very variable channel and its perimeter changes every winter.

Damn. Damn fine snapshot. Figured there would be one or two really true gems in this side challenge. This here would be one of them. And what are the tree-like thingies in the water?

Oh how lucky to live near a beach like this. I love seeing all the kids doing their own thing. I feel like I can touch the squishy sand and feel the cool water running over my feet.

love this great candid shot .. i imagine you, the photographer, taking their pic and wonder if they are ppl you know, are related to or just randoms .. its such a common scene all over the world .. ppl cooling down on a hot day .. love your b&w and the wide angle too .. :)
