Thanks Lutchenko... comments from you and some other high scorers here are prized above ribbons. :)
I think some thought it was illegal, others recognized me :), others didn't know what R.E.M. meant... who knows. When the scores were first getting announced, I figured above 5 would do very well... came close to five, but closer to the bottom

This is a four second exposure -- lit by the modelling light on my Alien Bees light.
After the shutter opened, I started moving the word EYE (cut from cardstock) then I counted to about 3.5 and held position, then triggered the flash with the remote handheld.
Converted to B&W with gradient map, then adjusted the opacity of the layer to make it more a dreamy feel.
Thanks for the kind comments and those who appreciated the effort! |

I would like to second Steve's post-challenge comment. I think you did a great job with this shot and the sub-5 score is IMO, not at all reflective of the creativity and effort that you put into this capture. I definitely must applaud you for taking a really tough band name (and pulling if off)...instead of copping out with an easy one (like I did).
ETA: Care to share how you did this?

In spite of the sub-5 score, I would call this a success. Just reading through the comments and looking at the commenter's average tells me this worked well for a lot of people, and they appreciated the creativity. |

I was wondering if anyone would figure out a way of conveying this band name, since eyes are normally closed during REM. Extra pointage for creatively doing a tough one. |

This is basic editing? If so, I'm surprised... but my doubt won't reduce my score. I like the concept & the picture. |

This is a really cool idea. It has a very dreamy type feeling, which matches the title perfectly. |
