Hi from the C Club,

You asked for an indepth review of your shot in a challenge.

This is a good shot, I see that you specifically asked about teh 1-2's votes and I will try to explain some of that for you.

The idea is an excellent one and the POV is good. Now down to the nitty gritty,

Your shot is pretty much out of focus. The rim is in focus in the left hand side, but that is it. The drip in focus would have worked better or the appliance that you where trying to shoot. A little bit more of the appliance would have helped too, even though everyone knows that it is a coffee machine.

The yellow behind the cup is distracting, now if you had moved that to center then it would have been more pleasing and not thrown the center off your shot, it would have looked more like a glow around your appliance.

there is not a lot that could have been done in post processing, your colours are good, textures are feeling right. As before focus is off so unsharp mask wouldn't have helped much. Get your self a tripod!!

About your 1's and 2's, everyone gets them even ribbon winners. In your case I'd guess most of them were DNMC votes as the appliance theme is not very strong. Cool photo though.

the yellow thing in the background is the coffee bag... :-)
Yes, focus could have been a little tighter on the drop, shot this freehanded... decided after the challenge to get a tripod ^^

I just wish those giving a 1 or 2 would explain why they did not like it... :-(

Nice shot; the blue really jumps out at me. My only issue is that you seem to have missed sharp focus by a hair. Or maybe the jpeg compression makes it seem that way...?

Nice framing of the blue cup. The appliance theme is kind of indirect as the cup and the coffe are really the subjects of this one.
