Greetings from Andi via the Critique Club

First Impression: A little plain and flat for me, maybe if there was some coffee boiling away it would add a little interest to the shot?

Composition: I quite like the strong lines you have in the shot but would like to see the left of the coffee maker dead straight with the edge of the frame. A couple of commenters mentioned a lower angle but you'd lose those nice lines - maybe more from above would be better?

Subject: There were some very creative shots with ordinarily boring images in the challenge but sadly you didn't get this image to 'pop' or show any real creativity.

Technical: This worries me a bit as if that long list of editing steps was for this image I think you might be in for a call from Site Council and, imho you didn't need most of the tools to produce this image as its still quite flat and lacking in any contrast on my monitor.

Final thoughts: I do think it probably ended up with the score it deserved. Yes, its a shot of a 12 cup coffee maker but I (like most viewers) would be looking for something a little more interesting.

Very static and not too interesting to me personally. Sorry. Your focus if nice and sharp and the desat adds some interest.

Good idea to get down lower to shoot this, but perhaps an even lower angle to add interest and maybe having the coffee brewing/dripping for the shot (omg, and Irene/water(coffe) droplet shot, lol. Even I couldn't do that!). * You could still do the desat look, but maybe bring up the red to make the switch stand out...something.That might have helped the brown of the coffee had you had some. * Another thought would be to flip open the coffee basket with fresh filter and coffee unbrewed, then shoot down instead of up. All just thoughts. :) Hope this is a little bit helpful (I didn't enter this challenge so you are already ahead or me.)

It's not very interesting... but at least the pot & your counter is clean. :o)

A bit weak. Some ideas: Off center it, or maybe only a portion of it to create intrigue.

Pull it to the edge of the counter, then stoop down and shoot upward; I see you were at the counter edge... the drama didn't happen in this short shot.

Limit the depth of field (how much is in focus) so there it helps it to stand out.

Centered is usually not a big impact... neither is the equal spacing all the way around.

Hope these stir up some creative juices!

The lighting is pretty good, a tighter shot/angle/perspective is needed for this type of shot.

Nice shot, but not very interesting, imo. Maybe if it was in the process of filtering, it might have added some interest?

Nice composition with the extra space aside of the handle. I like the lighting. The tones seem a little flat. Focus seems a litte soft on the lettering. I wonder how it would have looked filled with coffee.

Nice shot, the subject is a tad boring, and the lighting is a bit dim, 5.

Well, it's a household appliance that's for sure, but it lacks a bit in the creativity part of the challenge description.
