Hello from the Critique Club;
I like that you went a slightly different direction than many of the other entries. Your entry is almost diametrically opposed- your subject is broken, dingy, and the frame is exceptionally cluttered. The other shots were very clean, simple entries, many appearing or consisting of studio shots. The realness of your photo really sets it apart from the others. Besides, I canât help but commending you for managing to approach an âapplianceâ challenge from a street photography stance ;)
The black and white conversion seems to be pretty good. One thing, though, is that I might like to see the whites a little bit more white with some simple work in curves. Your border choice works very well here for the subject matter, and strengthens your composition, which Iâm also fond of. In all honesty, there isnât a lot I would recommend changing on this, because your mood and subject perfectly reinforce each other. Your shot isnât as pretty as some of the others, but then, it isnât supposed to be, now is it?

Excellent tones. There is nothing one dimensional about this BW image. The message is clear too.

Nice effect with the clutter all around the oven. It does feel a little posed. The reflection is a bit of a distraction.

Nice composition in it self, but something missing for me, may be a different perspective. Maybe from above down wards with a twist?
